CIE is proud to unveil its latest strategic distribution partnership with global access control pioneers Salto Systems, announced live from the UK’s premier security showcase - The Security Event 2025 - at Birmingham’s NEC.
In an exciting new collaboration, CIE will now offer Salto’s world-class access control solutions, smart locks and innovative biometric technologies as part of its expanding security technology portfolio.
In a special video interview hosted during this year's The Security Event, CIE’s Marketing Director Chris Edwards was joined by Josh Abbott, Sales Director UK for Salto Systems, to mark the occasion and unveil details of the newly formed partnership. The two discussed how Salto’s full-stack access control ecosystem will now be made available through CIE, offering system integrators, consultants and installers even more flexibility and innovation when designing secure environments.
“We’re really excited to announce the latest strategic partnership to CIE as we welcome Salto to our product range,” said Chris Edwards. “There are some incredibly secure and smart products we’re going to be adding to our portfolio that really fit our key verticals - particularly residential and multi-dwelling residential (MDU) - as we look at larger and more complex projects.”
Josh Abbott echoed the enthusiasm from Salto’s perspective, stating:
“At Salto, we are a solutions provider. We offer access control, visitor management, facial recognition, locker locking solutions, and more. We feel this really aligns with CIE’s core values of being a solutions company - and that’s why this partnership makes so much sense. There’s great cohesion here.”
Salto Systems has carved out a reputation as one of the most innovative and reliable names in electronic access control. Founded with the vision of revolutionising traditional mechanical keys, Salto has expanded into a global leader in wireless, cloud-based and mobile access solutions.
The company’s success has been built on a modular approach to smart building security. This allows seamless integration of hardware, software and services tailored to diverse industries - from commercial offices and educational campuses to residential developments and hospitality venues.
“We’re actually spread across all industries,” explained Abbott. “Our biggest markets in the UK are education, residential, and hospitality. But we also have a significant presence in commercial, retail and critical infrastructure. Our products are adaptable to all types of environments, and our software solutions can target different industries. We’re an industry-agnostic company - we don’t want to be tied into one place.”
Salto's product range goes far beyond traditional access control. Their comprehensive ecosystem includes:
1. Access Control Platforms
At the heart of Salto’s offering is a range of access platforms designed to suit a wide spectrum of needs:
2. Smart Locks & Wireless Readers
Salto has redefined how electronic locks function:
Abbott elaborated:
“Our locks range from battery-powered devices supporting mobile keys to hardwired locksets - and now also locker locks. We’ve seen a big shift in user expectations. With services like Amazon delivering at all hours, smart locks are becoming essential, especially for residential and parcel access.”
3. Facial Recognition & Biometrics
In a bold move toward future-proofing building access, Salto is entering the biometric access control space with Salto Face Access - a brand-new facial recognition solution.
“We’re just launching our biometric facial recognition solution - Salto Access for Face. It’s part of the move towards frictionless access and secure, touchless environments,” said Abbott.
4. Visitor & Contractor Management
Also showcased at The Security Event 2025 was Salto’s BlueEntrance platform:
“It allows customers to manage everything - visitors, contractors, workflows, inductions, getting them on site, assigning access. It’s a comprehensive solution that adds real value,” noted Abbott.
5. Smart Logistics Hub
Another highlight is the Smart Logistics Hub - Salto’s answer to secure parcel delivery in residential and commercial settings.
“We’re just releasing a product called our Smart Logistics Hub. It’s a parcel delivery solution that allows residents and delivery people to assign, track, and collect packages securely. It’s about making everyday logistics seamless.”
“We’ve always positioned CIE as a value-added distributor - not just selling boxes, but providing the technical knowledge and integration support to make these systems work in the real world."
As part of its ongoing mission to provide the industry’s best-in-class technologies, CIE sees Salto as a natural fit for its security systems portfolio.
With an extensive background in integrating building technologies - such as IP intercoms, AV distribution and intelligent locking - CIE brings a deep technical understanding and a broad customer base across residential, education, commercial and hospitality sectors.
“We’ve always positioned CIE as a value-added distributor - not just selling boxes, but providing the technical knowledge and integration support to make these systems work in the real world,” added Edwards. “Salto fits that model perfectly.”
The addition of Salto expands CIE’s ability to provide end-to-end access control solutions - from cloud-managed wireless locks to advanced visitor compliance platforms - backed by trusted brands and supported by CIE’s industry-leading technical services.
The Security Event 2025 provided the perfect platform for this game-changing announcement, bringing together thousands of professionals from across the security, property, and construction sectors.
Salto’s commitment to developing intuitive, interoperable, and future-facing security solutions resonated deeply with visitors - and with CIE’s ethos of innovation through partnership.
“There’s always something new at the show,” said Abbott. “New trends, new technologies. And that’s what we love. The market is moving so fast, and we’re moving with it - whether that’s facial recognition, mobile access, or compliance tools. Through this partnership with CIE, we’re excited to bring these innovations to a wider audience.”
