Getting Started with Single-Tenant Mode on Akuvox Cloud

This guide is designed to walk you through the process of setting up Single Tenant mode on Akuvox Cloud. By following these steps, you’ll be equipped to effortlessly manage user accounts, family member accounts, and associated devices.

	Logging in

		Navigate to ecloud.akuvox.com

You require an installer username and password. This is provided by your akuvox distributor sales team.

Once logged in you’ll see the option for akuvox or akubela portal, choose akuvox. For this ensure your installer role is set to single tenant manager

	Setting up user

Create a unique name which is relevant to the site. The room name can be kept empty.

You can either enter an email address or mobile number.

In our example we added the end users email address this will be used for logging into the akuvox Smart Plus application

Ensure to select United Kingdom for the country. Again the mobile number is not a required field

	Adding user information

Add the end users address details. This is used for your reference and for future updates like weather functionality on the indoor monitors

SIP or IP calling is important to understand. If all your devices are on the same network then IP calling should be selected. Otherwise if you’re using a 4G router, separate networks, or an E18 LTE, then you should select SIP call time.

Time zones and language should be pre-set to London and English

Unless you require the landline calling service which is a premium plan feature you can ignore the landline number section.

Home automation is used for akubela products keep this disabled if you’re using akuvox products

Premium plan should be disabled unless you require landline calling or other premium features like third party camera streams in the Smart Plus app.

	Adding the indoor monitor

Adding the indoor monitor to our single tenant site

If you don’t have an indoor monitor then keep this option off

If you do have an indoor monitor, turn this on

Fill in the indoor monitor MAC address and the location is going to be installed

Relay 1 and Relay 2 relate to the relays on the indoor monitor these typically are disabled in most installs

	Final steps

Select the device icon to see the devices within the site

The indoor monitor is added and already online

You can also add additional monitors using this option

Change the device to single tenant door phone

Enter the intercom MAC address and then the device location

If you’re using more than one relay you can add this by selecting add relay

		Click submit

Now all of our devices have been added into the akuvox single tenant site

	Troubleshooting

If you have any devices which are displayed as grey don’t be alarmed this is usually fixed by rebooting the device.

The indoor monitor must be online for you to access the Smart Plus application for the first time

If the device is still grey after rebooting then try a factory reset

If this fails, or the problem persists, then please contact technical support at CIE Group and they’ll be able to support you.

For access control via QR codes, the entry system will typically include PC software or a smart phone App which quickly and easily generates a unique QR code. These QR codes generated can be set to allow access for a limited time period, specific days of the week, limited number of uses and entry limited to specific areas, floors or zones of the building.

Once the QR code has been generated, and sent directly to the recipient (the user who requires temporary access to the building – such as a delivery driver or cleaning staff, for example) for them to display on their smartphone device or print out if required.

A QR code-enabled Door Intercom device (in this case the IP Style), features a scanner (in the form of a built-in camera); the user simply displays their unique QR code from their smart phone to the access control device, the QR code is automatically scanned to confirm or deny access rights. Once the code is confirmed the door opens to allow access.

What is RFID Access Control and how does it work?

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless signal transmission technology frequently used in access control and door entry systems, that allows only authorised and registered users to enter secure spaces. RFID uses radio waves to read and capture data stored on tags (such as cards or keyfobs) to provide unique information for the subject or individual.

How is Bluetooth technology used in Access Control?

Bluetooth door entry utilises each individual user’s smart phone with installed app for wireless transmission of access credentials and a Bluetooth Access proximity reader to receive the signal. When the device is near to the Access reader, the application communicates with the reader and exchanges the security key to authenticate and opens the lock to allow entry.

	What is 2N Wavekey?

2N WaveKey is 2N’s patented technology for mobile access control, it is the fastest on the market with unnvaled reliability and security. It allows security system administrators to generate and distribute access credentials to the user in a matter of moments, using a simple web interface and remote ‘mobile key’ distribution. There is no requirement to meet the user in person to provide physical credentials of keys. Wavekey stands out as it offers mobile credentials free of charge which are simple to distribute without the need for cloud connection.

In this guide, the CIE technical team demonstrates how to configure input triggers on the Akuvox R20K and X912 devices. This allows external switches such as push buttons or wired sensors to trigger the intercom’s relay, ideal for automating gates or door strikes.

Step-by-Step: Set Up Inputs to Trigger a Relay

Many Akuvox intercoms support physical input connections. When triggered (e.g. via a push-to-exit button or sensor), these inputs can activate relay A or B—controlling doors, gates, or other access points.

Step 1: Access the Web Interface of the Device

Use the Akuvox IP Scanner to locate the IP address of the device (e.g. R20K or X912).

Open a web browser and enter the IP address to access the login page.

	    Log in with your credentials:

	        Default Username: admin

	        Default Password: admin
(You may be prompted to change this on first login.)

Step 2: Configure Inputs on the R20K

Once logged in, navigate to Device Management > Access Control > Input.

	    Ensure the input is enabled.

Assign the input to execute Relay A or Relay B.

	        For example:

	            Input A → Relay A

	            Input B → Relay B

Click Submit to save your changes.

Now, when the connected switch is activated, the associated relay will trigger.

Step 3: Configure Inputs on the X912 (or similar models)

Use the IP Scanner again to find the IP address for the X912.

Log in using your installer credentials (default admin / admin, unless changed).

Navigate to Access Control > Input.

Enable Input A and assign it to the appropriate relay (e.g. Relay A).

Repeat this process for additional inputs as needed (e.g. Input B → Relay B).

	    Click Submit.

Once configured, any physical device wired into the input terminals will trigger the assigned relay output.

Intercom Preview is a feature used to preview the camera of the intercom while an incoming call is displayed on the indoor monitor or video handset, this allows you to see who is in front of your intercom without having to accept a video call.

In most scenarios like a small or large residence including apartments this feature is essential but there are certain applications where privacy is needed or audio only has been specified which means this feature isn’t required.

How do you pair your phone using Wavekey?

Whoever is responsible for user management such as security admin, HR manager or receptionist may generate mobile credentials into an access commander. Just grant them the appropriate permissions and they can create users, assign them to groups and generate a pairing code. There are two ways for a user to pair their phone.

In person / at the desk pairing:

Firstly when standing directly at the front desk open the 2N mobile key application and choose to add a new device. You will then be asked for a pairing code which the receptionist will be able to confirm, the mobile phone is then immediately paired via USB dongle at the receptionists computer. 2N access commander syncs the credentials to all readers where access is allowed. This process is quick and easy and done in less than 30 seconds.

	Remote pairing:

The second option is to send the pairing code remotely to the user via an email which explains how to download the 2N Mobile Key app and pair with the reader. A validity term between 10 minutes and 10 days may be set for the pairing code, therefore the user must complete pairing during this term. This can be completed via a designated device – there may be several of these in the building and typically include the reader at the front door. Pairing only needs to be done once per site – once successfully paired with one device all the devices on site are accessible by the user and synced. This keeps the process simple and eliminates the need for personal meetings and costly physical distribution.

How many different modes are there when using 2N Wave key?

Touch mode ensures absolute convenience. Users only touch the reader with their hand or elbow and leave their phone in their pocket.

Contactless Tap in app mode offers greater security. Users must disable any lock screen, and open the door via a virtual button in the app. This is also an ideal way to open the exit gate from a car park while sitting in the car.

Motion mode is completely contactless. All you have to do is approach the video intercom with the phone in your pocket or wave your hand over its camera and the door will open.

Card mode. The phone works as a card, and the user has to place it right next to the reader. This is similar to the popular NFC technology, but with WaveKey, it works with Android and iOS phones.
