Alps Proximity Reader

The Farpointe Data P-500-H Alps Proximity Reader is a compact 125kHz RFID access control reader designed for reliable contactless credential reading in commercial security installations. Part of the Pyramid Series Proximity range, the P-500-H supports both Farpointe Pyramid credentials and selected HID 125kHz proximity protocols, making it a practical choice for access control systems using compatible credential technologies. It combines a read range of up to 202mm (8 inches), flexible mounting and compatibility with supported access control panels.

Dual-Technology Proximity Card Compatibility

Using 125kHz RFID technology, the P-500-H reads Farpointe Pyramid Series Proximity cards and tags alongside selected HID 125kHz credentials, including compatible HID ProxCard II, ISOProx II and ProxKey II products.

This expanded credential compatibility makes the P-500-H particularly useful for installations where existing HID proximity credentials need to be supported alongside Farpointe Pyramid cards and tags.

The reader incorporates Pro-X read-range boosting technology, supporting reliable contactless credential detection at distances of up to 202mm (8 inches) under specified conditions. It also features MAXSecure security technology and fleaPower energy-conservation technology, providing additional security and power efficiency benefits.

Flexible Access Control Integration

The P-500-H supports Wiegand connectivity, including 26-bit and custom output formats, allowing connection to compatible access control panels. Alternative interface options within the reader range include ABA Track II magnetic stripe and OSDP, with OSDP requiring a separately specified model.

Unlike the standard P-500, which supports Pyramid Series Proximity credentials, the P-500-H adds compatibility with selected HID 125kHz proximity protocols. This makes it suitable for access control installations requiring support for both credential families without replacing compatible existing cards or tags.

Designed for Indoor and Outdoor Installations

Featuring an IP67-rated enclosure, the P-500-H is suitable for both indoor and outdoor access control applications. Its electronics are sealed in weather- and tamper-resistant epoxy potting, helping protect the reader against environmental exposure.

An operating temperature range of -35°C to +66°C makes it suitable for demanding installation environments, including commercial entrances, parking access points and turnstiles.

Compact Design and Simple Installation

Measuring 76 × 117 × 10mm, the P-500-H is designed for installation onto US single-gang electrical boxes or flat surfaces, including suitable metal and plastic mounting locations. Black and white snap-on cover options are supplied as standard.

The reader operates from a 5–16V DC power supply, with a typical current draw of 35mA at 12V DC and a peak draw of 75mA. A four-state LED indicator, offering red, green, amber and off states, and a built-in audible beeper provide visual and audible feedback during operation.
